Study Program of Engineering Physics of Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) is an engineering education program that teaches not only basic science (mathematics and physics) thoroughly, but also the up-to-date basic engineering. On the other hand, the fast growth of advanced technology requires physics engineers who have varied skills and knowledge, and are able to swiftly assimilate themselves to exploit the recent progress of technology and physics.

Background

Study Program of Engineering Physics of Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) is an engineering education program that teaches not only basic science (mathematics and physics) thoroughly, but also the up-to-date basic engineering. On the other hand, the fast growth of advanced technology requires physics engineers who have varied skills and knowledge, and are able to swiftly assimilate themselves to exploit the recent progress of technology and physics.

Known as a country with the oldest civilization in the world, China has a fantastic development in the last three decades. The development of China isn't gained through simplicity, but through complexity of its vast regions and its most challenging issue as the biggest populated country. This development is based on the ability of the Chinese to transfer and assimilate the world's advanced development.

Undoubtedly, globalization has enabled the world society to have infinite interaction neglecting boundaries. For those reasons, we, as the students of physics engineering ITB the class of 2005, believe that it is necessary to initiate an involve-ment to the world's recent advancement. This is a learning process which breaks through boundaries to the civilization forefront, i.e. to experience the advancement. This idea will be carried out by doing a series of learning activities in the country's research and technology centers, and then transfer-ring the results to our community to motivate us to develop our country, Indonesia.

In the name of God, Nation, and our University: To Freedom!

Purpose
  • To be involved in the world's globalization process
  • To learn from Chinese's positive way of life
  • To observe the application of physics engineering in industry
  • To enrich our knowledge of physics engineering and deepen our love to motherland
  • To collaborate with other engineering physics-related parties

FIELD ENGINEERING

  • Nano Technology, Material Processing and Computation
  • Instrumentation and Control for Industry
  • Energy Conversion and Management
  • Lighting, Thermal, and Acoustics
  • Medical Instrumentation
  • Optics

Program

The field trip program for university students of physics engineering ITB is a series of events entitled “FIELD TRIP PHYSICS ENGINEERING 2008”. It is divided into three phases:

PHASE ONE : RESEARCH

  • The research was done through studying furthermore about:
    • The latest advance technology in field engineering or related with the visiting object,
    • Interesting phenomenon in the visiting country such as overgrowing economy and its connection with technology
  • Stadium general will be held to equip the interns of class 2005 for the field trip
  • The speakers of the stadium general are the experts
  • The targets of stadium general are the students of engineering physics, ITB, and public
  • The stadium general will be held every Saturday on November 2007
  • The resume of the stadium general and research will be published in the blog so everyone can access it easily
  • This stadium general is also considered to be the opening of all programs in the internship of engineering physics 2005

PHASE TWO : THE FIELD TRIP

  • The participants will visit some places in Beijing. The purpose is to adopt and experience china's development personally. These visits can strongly motivate all of the participants to have contributions to Indonesia development.
  • China was chosen as explained in the background, whereas Beijing was chosen because it is the capital city which has many industrial regions, research centers and development centers for global and modern companies, international Olympiad sites, and world class universities.
  • The places which will be visited are as follows:
    • Peking University
    • Zhong Guan Chun (China Silicon Valley)
    • National Stadium and National Aquatic Center
    • Industrial Zones (R&D Center, Manufacturer, etc)
  • The visiting schedule starts on the 13th and ends on 21st January 2008
  • It will take eight days with the following schedule:
    • Day 1 The departure trip
    • Day 2 Industry visit 1
    • Day 3 Industry visit 2
    • Day 4 Visiting a local university
    • Day 5 Industry visit 3
    • Day 6 Visiting the Olympiad sites
    • Day 7 Break
    • Day 8 The Returning Trip

PHASE THREE : THE DISSEMINATION

  • A series of national seminars will be conducted to transfer the result of this program globally. The purpose is to motivate people to contribute actively to Indonesia development.
  • The seminar's general theme will be “Reflect on China”.
  • The seminar will welcome public participants and all university students from Indonesia.
  • The seminar participants will get an e-book, containing all the information about the field trip program: from the research, stadium general results, industrial and university visit, to the seminar resume.
  • This seminar will be considered to the closing ceremony of the field trip program of physics engineering 2008.
  • Articles publishing in media.
